Linda Liao ESL Champion Starcraft 2
Update! Linda Liao has joined Team Razer!
Linda Liao whose chinese name is Liao Pei Ling, and has made it to FHM’s poll of women as well as a VJ for MTV Taiwan, won the ESL Female league SCII cup. She is also apparently the #1 ranked Diamond SC2 player in Asia going under the moniker ‘pikachu’ which suits her personality and face. Her victory was quickly interviewed by the Taiwan Press and was placed on youtube where it reached 200,000 hits.
She can now be called the gaming queen of taiwan and she is probably glad to have that title.
She was coined the pride of taiwan, coming from the entertainment industry to win a professional gaming tournament that started at 2am in her country’s time and lasted for 4 straight hours. I guess she would be the pride of taiwanese e-sports and I think there are a few taiwanese starcraft 2 players presently in the korean leagues who would be delighted to hear that.
According to the youtube video she hails from a wealthy family, to some film mogul in taiwan. She still works as an actress and singer, and after rushing home from work she went straight into the starcraft 2 league, and her eyes became fixated on the macbook pro running Starcraft 2. Blizzard is probably the only software maker that makes game for mac simultaneously with their PC games.
She can apparently do quite the hard core feat of staying awake for 48 hours just to play games, its a wonder she doesn’t get carpal tunnel! But she did have such an incredible time playing that she had numb hands. Apparently her record is twice that number of hours. It seems that even her facebook was flooded with congratulations for winning the ESL Female Championship with but 3 months of experience.
Besides her gaming exploits she has done charity work, going to Nepal’s village called “future” to teach english, magic tricks and also clean toilets. She was touched by their birthday song, as she celebrated her birthday there. She also visited the families there, giving notebooks, food and other gifts as well as painting the walls. That event allowed her to see the world in a new light in a tiny village 100km north of Kathmandu.
She has also been selected by Razer to endorse their products such as Starcraft 2 keyboards.
